We hope to hold 11 meetings in 2024 on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:15pm


JANUARY 30th Potting and Pests

A chance to repot your pants and exchange views  on the different media that can be used. Also diagnostic information about pests and their control.


FEBRUARY 27th Chris Barker - Malvern Show  and BOC photo competition NEoEOS entries

Chris will give us an illustrated talk on the Malvern show which features many orchid displays and dealers, among other attractions and encourage us to attend it as a week-end break.


March 26th   Chris Tyrie- Sarchochilus

Chris will show the Slide show from Barrita who excel in hybridising Sarchochilus and talk about this genera which he grows so successfully.

In the tea break we will  hold our photographic competition at which we hope a large selection of photographs (max five A5 size per member) will be chosen as the best 10 for the NEoEOS entries in the BOC competition.

Also we will be organizing rotas for our April show collecting raffle and tombola prizes, and distributing posters and flyers and collecing returned Trophies.


APRIL 30th  BOC photographic Competition evening

There will be a digital slide show of all the photographs entered in the BOC competition and society members will vote on the 10 photographs they think are th the best ones.


MAY 28th  Trophy Awards night

Members will collect the trophies they have won at the show and photographs of all the wining plants will be shown while their proud grower explains how they grow the plant.


JUNE 25th  OSGB Video; Jim Cootes -’Orchids of the Philippines’

This is the first in the list of OSGB presentations and is sure to be of interest,  Jim Cootes is the author of the book; Orchids of the Philippines; and I am sure the presentation will be of use to all members .


JULY  30th  Michael Radley - Margaret Mee

Michael will be visiting family in the area and has agreed to give us a talk on this orchid botanist and her travels illustrated with pictures of her art work.


AUGUST   There is no meeting in August

However August 3rd we have a table display at Harlow Carr RHS at the Harrogate Orchid Society Show

A trip is being organized to this show costing £10 per person if we fill the 16 seater minibus. Entry to the Gardens is free. Please let Michele know if you wish to go.


September 24th Deflasking and potting up seedlings

A flask of.Odontoglossum naevium, was bought for society members and we will be demonstrating deflasking and potting up seedlings.  Please bring your own small pot and favourite seedling potting mix to practice potting your own seedling to take home and raise with advice from Bob Cant our expert.


OCTOBER 29th  AGM and extended table talk


NOVEMBER 26th   OSGB Video; Sarah Ritterhausen - Burnham Orchid Nurseries  

Burham Nurseries has been growing orchids for many years and has a beautiful orchid house visitors can visit. Sarah is a very knowledgable orchid grower and I am sure the talk will interest us all.


DECEMBER 10th Christmas Sharing Meal and Quiz members only 

Always a fun social evening with a quiz , good food brought by members to share, and a free raffle.
